InternetNZ established its Internet servers in 2000 and contracted Serion Solutions to integrate Open Source Solutions into their systems.
Initially a simple system using was utilised using Postfix SMTP server with IMAP email and an Apache webserver. However, over the years the societies requirements evolved. For a period they used SUSE OpenExchange groupware server, however they later migrated back to Open Source software.
Today InternetNZ run a dozen servers with a mixture of several versions of Linux (Debian and Ubuntu) which provide all their server needs for office intranet and Internet content. In the office Windows and Mac clients are used by the staff.
