Serion Solutions is not a newcomer to Open Source. The founder has been involved with computer technology and with Free and Open Source since 1989 - and has been an active contributor to several projects and communities.

John Vorstermans

CEO and Founder
John has a keen interest in electronic communication as an effective tool to ease communication, thereby facilitating cross-cultural exchange. John became involved in helping to establish communication networks from the mid 1980's. From the inception of the Internet John recognised its collaborative nature, and thus helped to establish its presence in New Zealand.

John has had considerable experience in business as founder, CEO and technical manager of Actrix Networks Ltd, New Zealand's first Internet Service Provider (ISP) from 1989 to 1999. During this time John helped to pioneer the ISP business in New Zealand, and established a strong recognisable brand which is still in operation today. During this time he also helped several other ISPs to establish themselves in Auckland, New Plymouth, Palmeston Nth and Christchurch.

John is also a founder and Fellow of The Internet Society (InternetNZ), and during this time served as a founding directory of Domainz Limited. Over the years John has continued to remain active in the open source community, has been actively involved and assisting non-profit, educational organisations and businesses, establish a solid internet presence using open source software.
